The Electrical Program, operating within the Electrical and Energy Department of Aksaray University's Vocational School of Technical Sciences, is one of the first programs established within the school. It was founded in the 1986-1987 academic year under the Technical Programs Department (Electrical, Dairy and Dairy Products, and Automotive Programs) of Aksaray Vocational School, which was affiliated with Selçuk University, and began its educational activities with its first students in the 1987-1988 academic year. On July 11, 1992, Aksaray Vocational School was fully affiliated with Niğde University. In 2006, it joined the newly established Aksaray University and continued its educational activities. In the 2011-2012 academic year, the social and technical departments of Aksaray Vocational School were separated, creating the Social Sciences Vocational School and the Technical Sciences Vocational School. In the 2011-2012 academic year, it became part of the Vocational School of Technical Sciences. Simultaneously, the Electrical and Energy Department was established through departmental name changes, and the Electrical Program continued its activities under this department. As of the 2025-2026 academic year, the Electrical and Energy Department includes the Alternative Energy Sources Technology Program (AEK), the Electrical Program (ELK), and the Natural Gas and Installation Technology (GZT) Program (Table 1).
The number of active students registered in our department is 299 in total, 99 in the Alternative Energy Sources Technology Program, 129 in the Electrical Program and 71 in the Natural Gas and Installation Technology Program, respectively, as of the end of 2024.
According to the YÖK Program Atlas data, the quotas defined in the ÖSYM guide for the year 2024 for our department's programs, the number of students placed and the number of students registered with additional placements were determined as 32/32/28 for the AEK program, 42/41/38 for the ELK program and 32/32/22 for the GZT program, respectively. The placement rate for the programs is 100%, 97.6% and 100%, respectively.
